EmpowerHer: Tween Period Confidence + Care
A small-group workshop for tweens and their trusted adults
Learning about periods and growing up doesn’t have to be awkward or stressful. This hands-on workshop creates a safe, supportive, and engaging space for girls to build confidence, ask questions, and prepare for the changes ahead, all while enjoying snacks, games, and bonding with people they know.
Why This Workshop is Special
Led by a pelvic health and period expert and occupational therapist, this workshop goes beyond basic period education. Girls and their adults explore social-emotional awareness, self-regulation, cramp management, pelvic health basics, and making choices for their bodies and lifestyles—all in a fun, age-appropriate way.
Everything is designed to empower girls and adults alike, helping normalize conversations about puberty and periods while fostering connection and community.

FAQs

Is this age-appropriate?
Yes! The workshop is designed specifically for girls ages 8–11 and their trusted adults. Activities and discussions are tailored to be engaging, informative, and supportive for this age group.
Is this a sex talk?
No. This is about body changes, period education, and empowerment. Conversations focus on confidence, self-care, and social-emotional awareness.
Who leads the workshop?
Each session is led by a licensed occupational therapist with over 16 years of experience. OTs are experts in child development, social-emotional skills, and self-regulation, which means the workshop is carefully designed to be age-appropriate, accessible, and supportive. You’ll get accurate information in a way that breaks down barriers and makes the experience positive for both tweens and adults.

Will my daughter feel comfortable?
Every girl is different, and while comfort can look different for everyone, we do everything we can to make this a safe, supportive, and even fun space. Girls are with people they already know, and we use gentle icebreakers, consent-based participation, and close attention to the group’s needs to help even shy kids feel at ease.
What if we haven’t talked about this yet, or I don’t know what to say?
That’s completely okay. The workshop is designed to meet girls (and adults) right where they are, whether this is their very first conversation or a continuation of what you’ve already started at home. You’ll both gain tools, language, and resources so you can keep the conversation going with confidence. (PS - you're not alone in wondering if you're doing this right!!)
Testimonials
"I would absolutely recommend this workshop. This was a great way to open the door to further conversation with my daughter in a way that felt warm, safe, nonjudgmental and welcoming."
"Natalie handled a sometimes uncomfortable topic with ease and grace. She put my daughter and I at ease. We had a great time with everyone there by playing games, and doing demonstrations/experiments. My daughter learned a lot and had fun along the way. Since the party my daughter has felt comfortable continuing the conversations we began there. Because we learned together I know she will feel good about coming to me in the future. Thanks Natalie!"
"I found the workshop very beneficial for starting the period conversation. It made "the talk" less awkward because the girls were able to be a little silly when learning about it during the workshop. Being able to touch the period products will make the experience less scary when she actually needs to use them."
"My daughter has already been asking a bunch of extra questions and knows it’s ok to ask any and all questions. I’m not sure I would have known how to present all this to her myself, at least not in a way that would be as kid informative. We were also able to connect at a new level to discuss the changes she’ll go through one day and they are positive."
"The period party was a great, fun way to start these important conversations with my daughter, reduce the stigma around menstruation and create a sense of community, belonging and acceptance of her body. Even as a health care provider, I still had not found a way to start talking about this with my own child. Natalie was incredible and I recommend this to all the moms and daughters I know."
"My daughter absolutely loved the Period Party! She learned a lot and had fun getting to know the other girls at the party. On the way home, she asked when the next class will be so she can learn more about her body and bond more with other girls her age."
